Dandelion Vintage 13th Anniversary Sale - 33% off for 3 days!

The Dandelion Vintage website went online a few days after Christmas in 1997. I got the idea for starting the website after accidently finding another website that was selling antiques and vintage clothing. My website started with a single page of about 20 items from my closet. I had been collecting and wearing vintage for over 10+ years by that time, so I thought a website might be a good way to resell things that I had been hoarding.
There weren't many vintage clothing websites at that time, less than 10, and it took a very long time to show up in search engines then too - I don't mean getting onto the first page of results, I mean just cracking the top 100. It was 2 months before I sold my first item, a pair of 1960s faux leopard fur pants.
I  started my website about 3 months before I discovered ebay. I slowly added to the website and started listing on ebay, and grew from there. I listed regularly on ebay for 7 years, then mostly gave it up to focus on the website. In the past 5 years, I've only listed occassionally on ebay and I also list in spurts on etsy.

On my website I have over 2000 items to choose from. From Victorian to the 1970s. Clothing, lingerie, hats, purses, jewelry and more. This is my fulltime job and I am very serious (and obsessive) about it. I've been wearing and collecting vintage clothing for 25 years, I'm not someone who just jumped on the bandwagon when it became popular. In 13 years, I've probably handled 30,000 pieces of vintage.

I try to keep my items reasonably priced so that buyers can afford to add them to their wardrobes or collections. I don't follow trends, I don't read current fashion magazines. I just focus on quality vintage clothing. I've met some of the coolest people over the years, who love vintage clothing as much as I do. I feel very lucky to have a job that I love (although I am a very demanding boss)

To celebrate 13 years online, I'm having a 3 day sale with everything 33% off!

Some favorite vintage clothing memories:

*Meeting my 2 favorite vintage ladies who have been helping to supply me with stock for about 12 years.
*Buying 2521 pairs of vintage stockings
*Learning about the lives of the ladies whose clothing I buy. Aspiring actresses, farm wives, spinsters, nurses, milliners etc. Wondering about their lives and what the clothing originally meant to them
* Seeing photos of my customers happily wearing a vintage outfit from the website.
* Selling a girdle on ebay for $1000 (that was a fluke, an old fashioned bidding war, never to be repeated)
* In one stock purchase, discovering two 1920s dresses with Lanvin and Molyneux labels in them.
* Blowing my poker face when I discovered a pair of Pucci sunglasses.
* Making vintage friends with my customers, who are very cool, and other vintage sellers - even though I'm the type of person who keeps to myself (selling online from my house is SUCH the perfect job for a hermit like me)
* The 1000s of bound button holes, beautiful tailoring details and tiny handstitching that I've admired in garments over the years.

Thank you to all my vintage friends!
Bye for now, Carol

Just added - 1950s Tulle gowns, Coats and 1940-50s Vintage patterns

This week I started to dip into the lot of 190 patterns that I bought last week. And I also cleaned and listed the 4 tulle gowns that I bought at the same estate sale along with another tulle dress that I had from a previous purchase.
This week I purchased a great load of 30 1950-60s cocktail dresses, many still with their original store tags - Larry Aldrich, Herbert Sondheim, Jack Herzog, Claire McCardell and 2 Ceil Chapmans! I will be working on some of those for next week's update along with more of the larger sized dresses from the lot that I bought last month.

This week you can check out these goodies at the links below -

The 'Divine Diva' Vintage Giveaway!

Hey, it's about time for another giveaway, isn't it? This is a very good giveaway with 4 great items.

Anyone can enter to win, just post a comment below or send an email to dvintage@comcast.net
A winner will be chosen on July 26th, which is a Monday.

This drawing will include the book 'Bette & Joan The Divine Feud' - I just read this and I loved it! There is juicy gossip (Joan was kinda slutty) and catty, bitchy remarks on nearly every page of the book.

Also is a 1930s  small pillow cover made of dusty peach and teal silk matte satin petals. It has an opening in the back to slide in a 7-1/2 inch pillow.

Next is a dark pink crochet thingy, probably from the 1930s as well. The inside section is peach acetate and it is stuffed. I don't know if it was a pin cushion or what because it is meant to hang. It also reminds me of those things that you would see boudoir or kewpie dolls attached to, kind of lounging on the top.

Lastly is a very cool 1950s travel set. It's a soft clear plastic bag with a painted fan and rhinestones on the front. It snaps on the back. Inside are 3 containers with plastic faux pearl tops, and a brush and comb. Excellent, the items look like they were never used.

7/1 Stock purchase, lots of goodies

I made a large stock purchase on Thursday July 1st. About 100 pieces of clothing and accessories. Most items are Victorian to the 1920s, with about 25 pieces from the 1940-50s. Lots of Victorian and Edwardian whites, a few silk dresses, lingerie, walking skirts, some children's clothing etc. Here are pictures of some of the pieces. The 1940-50s items are day dresses and blouses. Most items are good sizes. The older pieces do have flaws of course. There are some really nice pieces in the lot.

It's going to take me several weeks to get through everything, so please have patience if you see something that you like. I haven't evaluated the sizes and conditions of each piece yet. Whenever I buy a large load of stock like this, I usually start with some easy pieces, so that I can get them listed quickly and start making my money back. I was already working on 10 day dresses before I bought this lot, so I'll be working on those for the next update first, and then I'll start pulling some pieces from this lot to start listing. I'm at the shore for the 4th of July holiday, but I brought a bag of clothing with me to handwash and hang out to dry. So you'll probably see some of those items first and I think I'll start with the 1920s dresses and lingerie too.

No update this week because of the holiday, so check back for new stuff next week.
