Vintage coats, Dresses and Hats just added to the website

• 2 More coats - One is a blackbrown faux fur and the other a grey wool with fur collar
• 3 Dressy Dresses - a black chiffon paisley print maxi dress, a Pink Dress suit and custom Hong Kong Satin Dress set
• 3 Vintage Day Dresses - two 1960s dresses and a late 1960s maxi gown - I don't know, would you consider that more of a dressy dress?
• 15 Vintage hats - from 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, great styles!

A peek at today's vintage stock purchase

Today I made a nice size vintage stock purchase! The call came out of the blue from someone that I had bought from a year or so ago, and then didn't hear from again until today. She stopped by just as a storm started this afternoon, with boxes of goodies for me to go through.

I ended up with 55 hats from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
10 purses, (5 of which I am trying to resist keeping for myself)
32 dresses, mostly from the mid to late 1960s and a few later.
Also a few coats, some lingerie and blouses. Cool. I really needed a nice stock purchase to give me some things to keep busy with over the Winter.

My dad was in the hospital recently and is recovering very well now. But we have doctor appointments, a visiting nurse and physical therapy, so it's been hard for me to get time to work on the vintage the past 2 weeks.
I'm hoping to dive into working on some of this fresh stock Friday, so watch for updates in a few days. I'd love to dive into the hats first, because they are so easy to list, but the website is in desperate need of dresses, so I should try to get to those first.

Finally a website update! Dresses, Seymour Fox suit, berets and bedjackets

• 4 Dressy Dresses from the 1960s - Brocade, chiffon, sateen etc. 
• 7 wool felt berets from the 1980-90s - several are Liz Claiborne, one is reversable 
• Black Faille and Crepe Bow front dress - and a tailored fur trimmed Seymour Fox suit.
• Linen Sheaths with sweater or jacket - 1950s, pink and blue
• 1940s Items - a Kimberly Knit Ivory sweater, a turquoise satin bedjacket and a group of 5 as-is 1940s bedjackets

• Edwardian Opera Length Gloves - 1 style is rayon, 4 styles/length are silk and unworn.

Hurricane Sandy update

We made it through Hurricane Sandy just fine here, Thankfully.
Gus, Harlow and I left Strathmere Saturday morning after battening down everything. We spent the storm in The Woods. We were without electric for 6 hours on Monday and 20 hours on Tuesday. My Dad has a generator that we used to run the fridge and a small heater for a few hours at a time. Our stove is gas so we were able to light it manually to cook.
No flooding or damage here in The Woods. The vintage is on the 2nd floor above the garage, so that was super high and dry.

It was 2 days before we could back to check on Strathmere. In Strathmere we were very lucky as well. The town was flooded 1 to 3+ feet in all streets except ours, which apparently is the highest street in town. The water came from the bay though, not the Ocean. Beach dunes were not breached and the beach held up well with minor erosion.

No major damage to any homes in Strathmere. Thankfully we didn't see damage like many towns north of us had. Half of the homes in our town probably got water in them, mostly lower level living spaces and garages. Luckily we are about 4 feet above ground level so we didn't get any water in our house and we don't have a garage. Strathmere is now in the process of cleaning out.

Needless to say, I've been focused on Sandy all week and posting info and photos on the Strathmere blog -  www.strathmere.blogspot.com - for people to see. Which means that I didn't get any vintage work done this week, so there won't be any fresh vintage stock added to the website this week.
